Cambridge Electromagnetic Technology Ltd was established in 2019 by a trio of academics from the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. Our research focus lies in the realm of radio cosmology, where we dedicate ourselves to developing innovative instrumentation to address the challenges of observational astronomy.
Our team boasts a diverse blend of expertise in Physics and Engineering, coupled with extensive experience in both industry and academic research and development. Over the past decade and a half, we have successfully engineered antenna systems for the world’s largest phased array, SKA-Low, rigorously simulating and validating its performance.
A hallmark of our expertise is our unparalleled ability to accurately simulate exceptionally large, wideband arrays of any configuration, including dense, sparse, regular, or random arrangements. Our in-house simulator operates at a speed that is four orders of magnitude faster than conventional commercial EM simulators in this context, making it an invaluable tool for our research and development efforts.
The company was founded in 2019 by academics from the University of Cambridge’s Cavendish Astrophysics Laboratory – Dr Eloy de Lera Acedo, Prof Paul Alexander and Dr Andrew Faulkner.
Cambridge Electromagnetic Technology Ltd is at the very forefront of radio astronomy instrumentation. The team’s research was crucial to the development of the monumental SKA telescope project.
Our work has also taken us beyond astronomy, fuelling further groundbreaking research and project development on a global scale.
