Andrew is a long experienced engineer and company director. He spent many years as Managing Director of Husky Computers Ltd. delivering hand held computers for reliable outdoor use; winning two Queen’s Awards for Industry in the process. He then took the opportunity to gain a PhD in astrophysics.
This combination of experience was used to good effect at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, in the role of Project Engineer developing SKA-Low; a very large low frequency phased array (131,000 broad band elements) development for the Square Kilometre Array radio telescope, www.skatelescope.org a global programme for the next generation of metre and cm instruments.
While maintaining his role at the Cavendish, Andrew was a founder of Stratospheric Platforms Ltd., www.stratosphericplatforms.com, and led the development of a large (2048 element) Band 1 array for LTE. This is specified for flight on an aircraft at 60,000 feet; combining light weight, scalability and low power with aircraft requirements.
At Cambridge Electromagnetics Ltd. he brings his experience to the development of new products and services.
