Dr Eloy de Lera Acedo – Director

Eloy leads the technical efforts at Cambridge Electromagnetic Technology Ltd. His expertise is in electromagnetic design and modelling. With a first degree in electronic engineering, Eloy obtained a PhD in radio instrumentation for astrophysics in 2010. Since then, he has developed his career at Cambridge University (currently holding an Associate Professor position), from where he has led several international teams developing radio antenna systems for cosmology (eg. SKA, REACH and HERA telescopes). As part of these developments, a team led by Eloy successfully designed the radio antenna for the SKA1-LOW instrument. ~131,000 copies of this antenna (of an industrialized version of this antenna) will now be built for the telescope.

Eloy’s research has provided world-class advancements in electromagnetic numerical modelling of electrically large phased arrays as well as in the understanding of the energy absorption capabilities of ultra-low noise wideband multi sensor systems.

Throughout his career Eloy has maintained a close link to industry, with several projects with major industry leaders such as BT Labs, NPL, Huawei, etc.
